Language, Faith and Culture Course

In an exciting new development starting in September, BCT Training will be working in partnership with the Nishkam Civic Association at the Nishkam Centre, Soho Road, Handsworth to offer the Language, Faith and Culture course. This programme will draw together people from the local community, representing a diverse range of ethnicities and religions, who are interested in developing their English skills in order to express their faith and culture and to articulate their concerns.

The modular programme will be designed with those involved so that they may grow in confidence to express their individual understanding of the way they live their lives and what it means to be part of a particular faith community.  Those taking part will develop their listening and speaking skills in order to discover and appreciate the beliefs, values and cultures of others in the group.

Job Vacancy for Treasurer

Our Treasurer is retiring and we need a person with suitable qualifications and experience (see job description) to help us; initially for one year.  The Treasurer plays an important role in overseeing the work of Administrative Assistant by attending meetings of the Management Committee (four annually) and the Finance Subcommittee (meets as necessary).  This is a voluntary position with expenses.  Can you help or make this known to others?

Learning Champions wanted

Volunteers urgently required for our Learning Centres in Handsworth and Small Heath to join a friendly team to support adult learners.  Crèche workers also needed in Handsworth.  Volunteers will be offered training  and a CRB check and references will be required.
